"Sinterklaas . . . . you came!"

We are studying Holidays Around the World until Winter Break . . . it's kind of fun to do something out of our normal routine for a few weeks, but it is exhausting. We talked about Holland yesterday and how children set their shoes outside and put hay and carrots for Sinterklaas' horse and Sinterklaas leaves a treat inside their shoe. So we decided to see if Sinterklaas would visit us at school . . . the kiddos each brought in an extra shoe today and we waited and waited and waited . . . And magically, while the kiddos were gone at library, Sinterklaas swooped in and left us all a treat. H_____ walked in and proclaimed, "Sinterklaas, you came!" It was hysterical.

At the end of the day, C_____ came up to me and said, "I lost a tooth last night, but the Tooth Fairy didn't come. It must be because the Tooth Fairy and Sinterklaas bumped into each other last night and the Tooth Fairy knew Sinterklaas was coming and didn't want me to get two treats in one day."

Stay tuned for more "around the world" adventures . . . we'll be making Dreidels and Menorahs tomorrow.

Vrolijk kerstfeest!
Merry Christmas in Dutch
