I had my first appointment back in January and we took Grace and Vince along. We just told Grace we were going to Costco and Mommy had an appointment. I thought we should tell her what was going on in the car before we went in, but Tom wanted to wait until she could see the baby. Dr. Mora checked to make sure everything was okay and then told them to come in . . . it didn't take her too long to figure out what was going on!
This is a picture she drew on my phone of the baby in my tummy!
I am due August 8 and we can't wait to hold and love and snuggle this new little baby!
And because I'm feeling extra emotional these days about the time going so fast, a letter to each of my babies.

You are a delight to me. You love to talk, sing, dance, create songs, craft and play. Your imagination runs wild with all sorts of scenarios for your dolls, stuffed animals, princesses and occasionally, your brother. You are like a director on a set, constantly moving, tweaking, arranging, barking out orders, and stepping back to admire your creations.
You are a sweet and affectionate big sister. You always have kisses and hugs for Vince, as well as love pats, snuggles, tackles, tickles and nose rubs. You are incredibly patient with him, even when he head butts, bites, hits and hammers on you. He, in turn, thinks the world of you. Today when you were upset and crying, he climbed up next to you, patted your back with his hand, kissed you, and then started bringing you all of his most beloved toys: his tractor book and tractor. It so touched my heart because this is how you treat him when he is sad, and he has picked up such tender and sweet care from the times you have comforted him. You are such a natural caregiver. You love to help out, cleaning alongside me, getting food for Vince or putting your clothes away. I think you are at the PERFECT age to become a big sister again . . . any time we see a baby you become a sweet-talking, cooing, gentle little mama.
One minute you make me absolutely crazy with your sassiness and bossiness and the next minute you make up a song about Jesus, tell a story just so, or kiss Vince gently and sweetly, melting my heart and making me fall deeper in love with you. Three and a half is at times impossible and others, impossibly wonderful. This motherhood business is hard work, no getting around it. You have an opinion on just about everything. You love to share your thoughts, feelings and perceptions of the world with us, whether we are listening or not. You are constantly talking, morning until night, telling stories, singing songs, admonishing bad behavior, recalling memories, talking back, giving feedback, speaking your mind, and tenderly loving. Even though most nights I am tired beyond belief, it is with great joy that I wake each morning to your talkative, curious, happy little face. You are such a delight, sometimes frustrating, but most of the time absolutely lovable. I still am amazed that I get to be your Mama and to witness all the mystery and joy and creativity that is my Gracie girl.
Life is good with you in it, we love you to the moon!
Love,
Mom
Dear Vince,You continue to be sweet, loving, affectionate and snuggly. There are many, many times in a day that you hug, kiss, or offer gentle touches, completely unsolicited. You are exceptionally sweet and affectionate with Grace, as is she with you. You adore her much of the time, tolerate her sometimes, and shove her away occasionally. You have started to exhibit classic little brother activities like pulling hair, stealing toys, and ruining play structures. You squeal with excitement and feistiness, making it SO hard not to laugh.
Your language has really sparked this month and you are using new words everyday. Not surprising, your language tutor (aka Grace) can get you to say just about anything when you're in the mood. It is hilarious to hear what things she comes up with and your attempts at those words.
You are OBSESSED with tractors. You love to watch your John Deere movie as many times as Grace will tolerate in a day or drive the stretch of the Guide from North Washington to Scholten's Equipement . . . squealing and screaming and almost growling by the end, "tractor, tractor, trac, trac, tractor!" You wave goodbye to strangers getting in their cars. You smile at and flirt with ladies in the store. Your inquisitive nature and lack of restraint makes for some great adventures. You adore being outside, riding your tractor, fixing things, hammering, admiring daddy's tools, finding creative ways to reach high objects, destroying perfectly beautiful things, and following your sister.
Thank you for teaching me the joy of a second child, the freedom to make mistakes and let things slide, and for being such an incredible boy.
Life is good with you in it, we love you to the moon!
Love,
Mom
